Set up and ask for a review
Install the GitHub App and choose the repositories you want reviewed. Open the console to check whether your account is enabled and has balance.
Open a pull request, or mark a draft ready for review. To request a review yourself, comment on the pull request:
@diffoxai review
Choose how reviews run
Review settings apply to the account. Under Repositories, a repository can inherit them, or choose its own review mode and product.
Under Repositories you choose when each repository is reviewed: in Automatic mode when a pull request is opened and on every push, in Manual mode only when you ask.
If a review is waiting, read the status on the pull request, then check the account status, balance and review limits in the console. Drafts and repository settings can also prevent an automatic review.
Balance and spending
Reviews are paid from your account balance: any starting credit your account received and what you add. There is no subscription or automatic top-up.
Repository access and your data
GitHub shows the App permissions during installation. Choose only the repositories you want it to review; you can change or remove that access in GitHub.
The service reads repository content to review changes and writes review comments. How your code is handled during a review is described on the privacy page.
The privacy policy explains the data we retain, the providers who process it and how to request deletion.
Frequently asked questions
Which platforms does diffox work on? Does it work on private repositories?
diffox is a GitHub App and works on GitHub.com today; you can use it the same way on public and private repositories. Support for GitLab, Bitbucket and GitHub Enterprise Server is coming later.
What is diffox ultra, and how do I use it?
diffox ultra reviews the change with a stronger model, in more depth. To try it on a pull request, comment @diffoxai ultra review on it. To have every review done with diffox ultra, choose diffox ultra under “Review with” on the console’s Settings tab; you can also choose it per repository under Repositories.
Does diffox review again when I push?
Yes; on each push it reads only what is new. On a pull request it runs at most 5 reviews on its own, then stops and says so on the pull request; to have it continue, just comment @diffoxai review. You can change this number on the console’s Settings tab.
Does diffox use the repository’s own rules (AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md)?
Yes. Every review reads the AGENTS.md file at the root of the repository, or CLAUDE.md when there is none, and keeps those rules in mind as it reviews. The rules are read from the branch the pull request will merge into; a change to the rules file applies once it is merged.
Does diffox block a merge?
No. diffox only writes comments on the pull request; it never approves and never requests changes. Its status is never red; your team merges when it decides.
Which programming languages does diffox review?
diffox is not tied to any one language. Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Go or any other: it reads the change whatever language it is written in.
What language is the review written in?
In English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish or Italian. You choose it in the “Review language” field on the console’s Settings tab; if you don’t, it is written in English. Code, file names and identifiers are never translated.
Can I limit how many reviews run?
Yes. On the console’s Settings tab you can set how many reviews run in a day and how many start on their own on one pull request. A review that hits a limit does not run, and the pull request says so.
Which findings does diffox post?
Of what it finds, diffox itself picks what is worth writing on the pull request and writes it most important first; each finding’s importance is shown beside it.
